Mon Laferte Signs With UTA (EXCLUSIVE)

UTA has signed five-time Latin Grammy Award-winning artist Mon Laferte for global representation in all areas (excluding LATAM). Almost two years after releasing her experimental “Autopoietica” album, the Chilean-Mexican singer-songwriter is gearing up for the debut of her ninth studio LP, “Femme Fatale,” in the late fall.

Mon Laferte (real name Norma Monserrat Bustamante Laferte) signed a record deal with Sony Music last year after spending a decade at Universal Music México. She is best known for her robust vocals and distinct blend of cumbia, bolero, folk and alternative styles.

The 42 year-old entertainer is currently performing as Sally Bowles, in the Spanish version of the Broadway production of “Cabaret!” for a limited run at the Insurgentes Theater in Mexico. She has performed all over the world, including slots at Coachella, Viña del Mar, Bellas Artes, the Montreal Jazz Festival, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl and Movistar Arena Chile and Argentina, among countless other venues.

She as also the focus of a Netflix documentary, “Mon Laferte, te amo,” further showcasing the depth of her creative output. Described as an “intimate recounting” of her life on and off stage, the hour and 18 minute-long feature is directed by Camila Grandi and Joanna Reposi Garibaldi and finds Laferte in the middle of an international tour, just weeks away from becoming a mother. The film also delved into her upbringing, marked by the abandonment of her father, and economic struggles, as well as the differences that separated her from her mother at a young age.
