Versant, League One Volleyball in Multi-Year Rights Deal
Women’s volleyball is coming to the USA cable network as part of a deal between League One Volleyball, and Versant, the media company soon to be spun off of NBCUniversal that is looking to sports to help shore up its ties to audiences.
USA will start showing League One Volleyball matches in primetime starting on USA in January of 2026.
As part of the deal, USA will air the league’s Match of the Week on Wednesdays, and cover the league’s playoffs and the 2026 LOVB Championship Match.
“Our partnership with LOVB is the latest example of Versant’s commitment to highlighting premier women’s sports leagues on our networks and further establishes USA Network as a destination for top-tier sports programming,” said Celia Kohl, the company’s senior vice president of strategy and business development, in a prepared statement. USA Network also has rights to show WNBA games.
LOVB has teams in Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison (Wis.), Nebraska, and Salt Lake, and 20% of its players have experience in the Olympics.
Versant and the U.S. Golf Association recently struck a new rights deal that will give USA Network and Golf Channel the ability to present live coverage of 11 USGA championships through 2032 — including the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open — featuring live event and studio coverage of the championships across the networks struck.
The volleyball deal comes as more media outlets — and the consumers they covet — are paying new attention to women’s sports. “Versant’s commitment ensures that women’s volleyball has the platform it deserves — consistent, national primetime coverage that reflects the caliber of our athletes and the passion of our fans,” said Raquel Braun, chief media officer for LOVB, in a statement. “By bringing LOVB into millions of homes each week, we’re not only expanding the reach of the sport but also inspiring the next generation and strengthening the communities that have fueled volleyball’s rise across the country.”
