Argentina’s Rei Pictures Launches in Spain and Mexico, TV, Services
Rei Pictures, one of Argentina’s most international-facing production companies, is launching a major expansion that includes new offices in Spain and Mexico and a push into TV, talent management and production services.
Rei Pictures, which is behind Lucrecia Martel’s Venice world premiere “Landmarks” (“Nuestra tierra”) and her historical drama “Zama,” also produced 2024 Venice competition entry “Kill the Jockey,” Cannes winner “The Settlers” and Sundance winner “Queen of Fear.”
To fuel its expansion, Rei has partnered with major commercials, film and TV company Primo Content, which has outposts in Argentina, Brazil, México, Spain and the U.S. Primo produced Gastón Solnicki’s “The Souffleur,” which is playing out of competition in Venice this year. It also backed Cannes winner “The Secret Agent,” by Kleber Mendonça Filho, and Ira Sachs’ “Peter Hujar’s Day,” among others.
“We’re thrilled to open our doors to partners such as Primo, who share our values and our mission to champion original voices in Latin America and now Europe. We are confident that this exciting partnership will create fresh and unexpected opportunities to empower the community of talent at the heart of Rei Pictures,” said Rei Pictures co-founder-producer, Benjamin Domenech.
“We have long admired Rei Pictures’ editorial line and cinematic vision, so when we set out to expand into long-form, they were the natural partner of choice. We are thrilled to foster a unified network of talent across both companies. Together we aspire to build a global powerhouse for bold, original voices in cinema,” said Primo Content’s Nicolás Pérez Veiga.
Rei Pictures is also a co-producer on “Magic Farm,” starring Chloe Sevigny and Alex Wolff, a recent Mubi release.
