Famke Janssen To Lead Post-Apocalyptic Thriller ‘One Second After’

Famke Janssen will star in the upcoming MPI Original feature film, “One Second After.”

Based on William R. Forstchen’s novel of the same name, “One Second After” takes place during the aftermath of an electromagnetic pulse attack on the United States. The film explores the collapse of society, the struggle of individuals and communities to survive without modern technology and infrastructure and the resilience of humans in the face of a harsh new reality. 

Janssen will play Mayor Kate Lindsey, a political figure who takes over during the crisis. She is joined by Josh Holloway (“Duster,” “Lost” and “Yellowstone”) and Hannah John-Kamen (“Thunderbolts*” “Ant-Man and the Wasp”).

The screenplay is penned by J. Michael Straczynski (“Sense8,” “Jeremiah ” and “Babylon 5”), is being produced by Rob Pfaltzgraff and Nick Reid of MPI Original films (“Motherland,” “Pinball: The Man Who Saved The Game”) and Matt Kennedy of Startling Inc. (“Game of Thrones”). Second unit director and stunt coordinator Scott Rogers (“Tron: Ares,” “John Wick: Chapter 4) will direct the film. 

Janssen is best known for portraying Jean Grey in the “X-Men” film franchise and starring in the 20th Century Fox’s “Taken” trilogy. Her other acting credits include playing the James Bond villain Xenia in “Goldeneye,” “Locked In,” “Boy Kills World,” “Made,”  “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters,” “Hide and Seek,” “Rounders,” The Faculty” and “Redeeming Love.”

The actress made her directorial debut with the 2011 dramedy “Bringing Up Bobby,” which starred Milla Jovovich. Janssen also starred in “The Blacklist: Redemption” (NBC), “Hemlock Grove” (Netflix) and recurred on “Nip/Tuck” (FX) and “How To Get Away With Murder” (ABC).
