Mahershala Ali Signs With CAA

Two-time Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali has signed with CAA.

Ali gained widespread recognition for his Oscar-winning role in “Moonlight,” which also earned him a SAG Award, Critics’ Choice Movie Award and New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actor.

He won his second Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Don Shirley in “Green Book,” a performance that also garnered Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA awards. Additionally, he received a BAFTA nomination for Apple TV+’s “Swan Song.”

Ali will next star alongside Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey in Universal’s “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” directed by Gareth Edwards and set to release on July 2. He will then film “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother,” written and directed by Bassam Tariq for Amazon MGM’s Orion Pictures.

In 2023, he starred in “Leave the World Behind” alongside Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke, which quickly became one of Netflix’s most streamed films and ranks among the platform’s most streamed English-language films.

His additional film credits include “Free State of Jones,” “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” (Parts 1 and 2), “The Place Beyond the Pines,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Hidden Figures” and “Roxanne Roxanne.” He also played roles in the Academy award-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and Robert Rodriguez’s “Alita: Battle Angel,” alongside Jennifer Connelly and Christoph Waltz.

In television, Ali earned Emmy and SAG nominations for his performances in the third season of the HBO crime anthology series “True Detective” and Netflix’s “House of Cards.” He earned Emmy nominations for “Ramy” and “Chimp Empire,” for which he served as the narrator. His television credits also include a standout performance in season one of Marvel’s “Luke Cage.” In 2019, he won the Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Program as an Executive Producer on HBO’s “We Are the Dream.”
