Pop singer-songwriter Slayyyter has signed with Columbia Records in partnership with Records (an indie label subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment) and released her first single under the new deal, the company announced on Friday.
“So grateful to start this next chapter of music with Columbia and Records,” Slayyyter tells Variety. “They understand my vision fully, and I’m excited for people to see everything we’ve been working on. It feels nice to have found a new home for my music.”
Slayyyter kicks off this new era with “Beat Up Chanel$,” produced by Austin Corona and Wyatt Bernard (both of whom worked on Halsey’s “The Great Impersonator”). The song arrives alongside an edgy music video, co-directed by Slayyyter and Hannah DeVries, that follows the song’s lyrics about love, excess and detachment.

“‘Beat Up Chanel$’ marks a new start for me,” said Slayyter. “There is something about it that feels nostalgic, like the indie electronic music I would rinse on my iPod as a teen. It’s an evolution of my sound and where my head is at creatively for the future. Drunk high school nights in parking lots, hanging at the skate park watching the boys, longing for designer items I couldn’t afford, partying in motels in St. Louis when the bars would close, dying my hair purple. As a 28-year-old I think back to these times of my life and feel like they mirror everything current.”
Slayyyter was recently on the road as an opener for Kesha’s “Tits Out Tour” with Scissor Sisters, which kicked off in July. She released her album “Starfucker” in 2023, telling Variety of the record, “I wanted to do something that was dramatized. I was watching a lot of Brian De Palma movies and all these different things that memorized L.A. in a specific way, and I wanted to make music that could reflect that. I feel like Hollywood in a general sense is glamorous but it’s also dirty and I wanted to have the sound reflect those different sides.”
